“Parents sue school for role in 'sexting' tragedy

The article we read which was called “Parents sue school for role in 'sexting' tragedy is very sad. The worst part is thinking that the girl was our age. I could happen to any girls at our school or community. This article teaches us that we should not send picture of our self to anybody, no matter what. We never know where the pictures you send are going to end up. The worst part of the whole story is that she tried to look for help but nobody did anything about it. She went to the councilor and the only thing he did is tell the kids to delete all the pictures.


The school had the responsibility to reported to the police or do something about it. But its not the school fault that she committed suicide. The school is responsible for what goes on inside not what goes on outside. The school should have done something like inform the parents or punished the kids that send it. The parents should not sue the school. Its like if the school sues the parents because it was also the parent’s responsibility to see that something was going on with their daughter. I think that the parents instead of fighting to sue the school, why don’t they take their story to other high schools so it does not happen to other kids.

Facebook

I read the new security measure that Facebok implemented and I understand that we have the option of controlling what people can see and how much information we want to choose. They made this security so that people realize that all the information you put in Facebook is seen by everybody and that we have to be careful what we show. They are given an option to make our information better protected. This measure were made because Facebook started having problems that people use it for illegal things. Also people started making lawsuits. They made that measure to protect themselves from lawsuits. I think they are good but people if they don’t want to block some of their things it’s not going to change. You still can see each others age, sex and etc without restriction. The measures are going to make people more conscious of what they are putting on the web. It would not affect the way I use Facebook. The only thing that I change is that I checked the privacy mode of each thing. Change it so the information in my Facebook was more private.

There are some rumors that people are posting videos and other things about the school. I think that everything that happens outside of school is not the school problem. I think that the post of the quotes if it did not have the log and the picture of the director it would be corrected and in our right to do this. I think that we are free to do what we want to an extend. We have the right to post things if it does no have the log. I think it was wrong to put the logo of the school in the quotes. The quotes were not harmful. The school should face it and ask who did the quotes and explain to the school what is correct. But the school should not make it a big deal. The school should explain what is correct to do with does post and they should explain why its not correct to post the videos. I have not seen the video but I believe what happens outside is not the school problem. I still believe that posting videos of teachers is wrong and maybe the school can protect themselves from that.

Tecnology

At this school the technology is used mostly in computer class and doing projects like PowerPoint. In primary we did not do a lot of technology projects because there was no equipment to do it. I remember doing typing and computer games in the class but nothing that involved thinking about the evolution of the technology.

In High school we have done videos. We would make for example a video for Mexican Law. But normally those projects are edited and arranged by only one person. What counts on those projects is the content not how well you do the project. Some teachers like Mrs. Whitten used the smart board for about 2 years but then I think he got frustrated because the board started to brake and he was the only one using them. Two years ago teachers started using the projects which is good because the teachers can make the classes fun and show us different things. Also the notes that the teacher makes can be saved in a public places where the students can access it. I personally two years ago made a video about a trip I did to Africa for Student expo. It was a very good video but because it was different and have more technology that the school could handle it was a disaster. I did not have the support of the teachers.

I think that a lot of times the teaches should give us more option on how and where we what to present our project. For example the student expo should not be so limited we should be able to use technology. We the teacher gives us a project we should be able to use different technology. Also we do not use a lot of technology because we have no being expose to it.

Animation

The project was not so hard as I thought it was going to be because we did it in steps. at the end I think it was a good project because it concluded with all the skills. I think I could have done a better job at tracing and more tracing so it would look more realistic. I think you should do this project with the 12 graders but maybe make them do a simpler video so that they can trace it better. I you could change the concept to not have a ball but another thing.

Animation

I was very frustrated doing the animation project. I could not figure out how to move the boat around the stage. When I was able to move it across the stage, I could not slip it over. I came in Lunch and teacher help me. My final project could be better, but its acceptable. If I was able to fix it, I would put a background and a better music. If you ask to extand my animation to one minute I would continue the story. I would put a rescue team that would save the kid.

Family tree

We don`t have a lot of family reunion because all of my family lives far away from me. But when I was younger we had family reunion at Christmas and Birthdays. When my grandfather was alive the whole family used to go and have Lunch at my grandpanrent`s house evry Sunday. We would have to arrive at 12 pm and we would eat so much that it would take the whole day. It was nice because we saw the family and I would played with my counsin. I hope that when I go back I would have more family gatherings.

I chooose this tree because it is simple and makes you fell calm. I liked this tree because it is design in a way that you fell that its moving. In the bottom of the tree there are people protesting, they could be protesting about cutting trees.

Social Media

The social media is growing very fast. It is growing so fast that I believe it can catch up to you if you don’t get ready. As the technology grows, the faster the people join it. For example it took 35 years for 50 millions users to use the radio and it only took 3 years for the ipod to reach that many users. The social media has become a way of communication. I believe we communicate more by the devises then face to face. The social media has negative things and positive things.

The positive part of social media is that it makes the people more aware of what is around the world. The people can communicate with people around the world and learn things about their culture and traditions. Also you can meet interesting people that can expand your knowledge of things. You can also meet a partner, where you will fell in love and get married. Business manager can check the interests of society and can produce and sell what the people want. Also the manager could contact the people to offer them their services. It can also open a lot of career opportunities. For example you can post that you are looking for a job. A boss of an important company sees it and contacts you. Those are some of the positive things about this revolutionary technology.

The negative things about having an expanding social media are that you are open for everybody to see your private life. You have no privacy. When you are looking for a job, some companies will Google you or find you in facebook to see what kind of person you are. What is sad about the social media is that the most frequent activity on the web is porn. As people can share good constructive opinions, other use the media to destroy or show bad things about other people. Now a days your are not as safe as before. There have been a lot of stories of kids being kidnapped; their aggressors said that they were able to kidnap the kid because they saw the information by facebook. Those are some negative parts of the social media. I think that if we be careful what we put in the web, it can help you a lot. I think it will become a part of our society so we have to start learning about it.

I am new at the blog concept. It’s a place were people share personal thinks like comments and news. I think it’s good to have a blog when you are far away from home because it can be use as a journal for your friends to know what you are doing. It’s not just for people far away from home it can also be used for your friends to know you better. I think we are going to use this blog for school purpose, like to know our classmates better. I think we are going to share our opinion about different issues. Today we were assigning to create a blog list of our classmates’ addresses without talking. We all decide to pass the addresses by facebook.
